Simon Derungs
Simon has spent the past 3 years heading up marketing communications at BT, having previously spent many years working in some of the best advertising agencies in London.
At BT he’s worked on BT’s sponsorship of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including advertising, films and events, and has since worked on projects including the launch of the new BT Sport channel.
His agency experience covers many industry sectors and clients – from chocolate to cat food, banking to biscuits, beer to the British Army. At his first agency he advertised the Austin Montego (not an easy challenge!), later changing agencies and taking on the likes of Cadbury, London Transport, the Post Office, Red Rock Cider and BT.
In the late 90s he joined M&C Saatchi where he worked closely with the Saatchi brothers, helping to create award-winning work for brands such as Fosters (“He who drinks Australian, thinks Australian”) and Whiskas (including the first ever ad aimed at cats which created a global sensation).
He was then headhunted to Publicis, where he headed up the account management department, as well as running accounts including McVitie’s, KP and British Army Recruiting. He later took on an international role, leading the global advertising for UBS.
Simon went to school in Nottingham, university in Sheffield, and now lives in London.
