David Moore

Restaurateur, Pied a Terre

David Moore has been a prominent figure in the hospitality industry since starting his career at The Box Tree, Ilkley over 35 years ago. He went on to spend 6 years at Le Manoir aux Quat Saison, in Oxford with Raymond Blanc before founding Restaurant Pied à Terre, in 1991. L’Autre Pied followed in 2007 and the acclaimed pop-up Pieds Nus, in 2013.

Pied à Terre
In spite of new ventures, David is never far from Pied à Terre. As an established restaurateur he is constantly evolving in the industry and culinary world. Pied à Terre is now in its 33rd year on Charlotte Street, gaining a second Michelin star in 1996. It is now in its 31st year in the Michelin guide. Pied à Terre continues to move forward with a new Chefs Kitchen Table on the first floor completed in 2019 and the launch of a Vegan home delivery in the lockdown.

Pied continues to support contemporary art with the Artist in Restaurant programme, the first restaurant to launch a resident artist competition.

L’Autre Pied
Having had a successful ten years in Marylebone with Michelin starred L’Autre Pied, David exited in the autumn of 2017, when an off market approach was made by Simon Rogan.

Pieds Nus
The pop-up was set-up on a shoestring budget in keeping with the stripped back concept and was hugely successful, but sadly the lease was only for 9 months on this occasion.

London Cocktail Club (LCC)
David is a founding partner of the LCC, with Raymond Blanc and Sarah Willingham (of Dragon Den fame). The Company operates 10 bars in the central London. The LCC has just recently floated on AIM as Nightcap PLC and operates over 50 bars nationwide.

One Sixty
Working on a very different restaurant concept, David took One Sixty, Smokehouse and Bar under his wing, in partnership with Sean Martin. The first site opened in 2014 in West Hampstead, West End Lane, and a second one followed 2015 in the City. Both sites have recently been sold.

Other Non-Executive roles
David is keen to share his expertise and learning, helping other chefs, restaurant owners and related businesses. His non-executive roles include Treboom Brewery, a microbrewery in Yorkshire. He is a founding partner and business mentor to the executive team. Recently David stepped down from the board of The Frog restaurant group; but has take a role in Number One Bruton, a small niche Hotel and Restaurant which just this week attained a Michelin star.

Charity
David was thrilled to be invited to sit on the board of Trustees for the Charity, The Cockpit Arts, an award winning creative incubator & social enterprise for designer makers based in Holborn and Deptford. He is now in his fifth year working with the charity.

Entrepreneurship is a skill David embraces and he joins the likes of Doug Richard (previous.
Dragon’s Den) as a figurehead for Citrus Saturday – a charity that provides young entrepreneurs (age 8 upwards) with the right skill-set to understand the world of business by making and selling their own lemonade. David inspires the kids and is a regular at the events.
David volunteers with The Glass Door and St Cutberts Felix project, helping to cook meals for the homeless. He is also a supporter of The Horizon project and centre for young homeless in central London.

Media
David has a successful media career including working with BBC2 on two series of The Restaurant with Raymond Blanc and Sarah Willingham; guest slots on Masterchef the Professionals; guest chef on This Morning; guest on The Wright Stuff; BBC1 presenter for Inside out London; regular contributor to BBC Radio1 with Nigel Barden. Collaborated with Nick Snaith on Magic Radio for Foodie Friday as well as being a voice for his industry at events and in the media.
