Former Director, Whitechapel Gallery

Iwona Blazwick is a curator of modern and contemporary art, a writer, lecturer and broadcaster. She was formerly Director of the Whitechapel Gallery, London, Head of Exhibitions at Tate Modern and London’s ICA as well as working as an independent curator in Europe and Japan. Blazwick was founding editor of Documents of Contemporary Art (Whitechapel Gallery/ MIT Press) and Contemporary Artists Monographs and Themes and Movements in Art (Phaidon Press). She has written monographs and articles on many contemporary artists, and on tendencies in modern and contemporary art, exhibition histories and art institutions. Blazwick is currently working in the Middle East on commissioning art in the landscape.
