- Widening gaps in attainment and unequal access to activities in and out of school have created a double disadvantage for young people from less affluent backgrounds
- Half of young people in state schools do not have access to work experience, yet this is used a third of the time to assess applications to universities
- Negative preconceptions and lack of awareness of the value of enrichment activity and work experience are hidden barriers for young people with limited social and cultural capital
