David Morrissey, Actor and Director, at Alsop High School
David Morrissey spoke to students in Liverpool about dramaturgy and working in the television industry.
Students heard the realities of what life in the creative arts was like, and got David’s professional tips on writing, building character, performance, screenwriting and directing. They were shown example of his work and the process of creating a character.
The school had arranged to show film clips that demonstrated the techniques being discussed. This was an integral part of enhancing the learning opportunities of the talk, and part of what made the event an invaluable experience.
Teachers fed back that pupils felt encouraged to ask questions as David had planned the talk to suit his audience. As the pupils had researched their speaker’s background, fantastic questions had been prepared beforehand- and some students even followed up with more questions via Twitter.
We know that students were both motivated and inspired by the advice and knowledge they received, and are delighted that their event went so well.
