Join NTBC for our ‘Meet the Author’ finale (our final broadcast of six) with multi-award winning author, Patrice Lawrence MBE. We’ll be discussing Patrice’s career and her pared-back yet heartfelt retelling of Charlotte Brontë’s masterpiece – our hero read, Jane Eyre: Abridged for Young Readers – as well as Patrice’s other books.


Patrice Lawrence grew up in Sussex, with a mother who loved historical fiction. She writes books for children and young people of all ages, from picture books to teen thrillers, and was awarded an MBE for Literature in 2021. Patrice has been shortlisted for the Costa Children’s Award, the Carnegie Medal, the Little Rebels Award and many regional awards, and has won the Bookseller YA Prize, the Waterstones Prize for Older Children and the inaugural Jhalak Prize for Children and Young People among others. She is passionate about social justice and is an ambassador for the creative writing charity First Story.
