Engineer your future with our 3-day hybrid work experience programme this will include 2 days virtual and 1 day in person, where you’ll explore the diverse range of engineering careers within the water industry. From civil and construction to mechanical or electrical engineering, you’ll learn how professionals in these fields play a key role in delivering clean fresh drinking water to homes and businesses across Northern Ireland; safely returning wastewater back to environment; preventing flood damage and addressing the challenges of climate change; and developing innovative and sustainable solutions fit for the future.

 


What to Expect

This 3-day hybrid programme allows you to explore the world of water engineering through both virtual and in-person experiences.

Behind the scenes of Engineering at NI Water: Hear from our water engineers as they discuss cutting-edge advancements in water infrastructure, sustainable design and advanced treatment processes. Participate in an interactive Q&A to deepen your understanding of these critical areas.

Breakout Sessions: Get ready to dive into interactive activities where you'll team up with other students to tackle engineering challenges in a fun and collaborative environment.

Career Insights: Meet our entry-level team and senior leaders as they share their career journeys and highlight the range of exciting career opportunities and paths available at our award-winning organisation. Gain practical tips and advice to help shape your own career in this dynamic field.

Site Tours: Experience an in-person tour of one of our key facilities and take a virtual reality ‘walk’ through some of our most spectacular dams (including Spelga, Silent Valley and Ben Crom), and interesting water and wastewater works..

Northern Ireland Water is a Government Owned Company (GoCo), set up in April 2007 to provide the water and sewerage services in Northern Ireland. That means we supply 560 million litres of clean water a day for almost 1.8 million people as well as treating 320 million litres of wastewater a day.
