Are you fascinated with by how technology is shaping healthcare and the future of healthcare? Do you want to explore the role of advanced machinery, AI, data analysis, and cutting-edge software in genomic medicine? Our work experience opportunity offers a unique insight into how technology drives innovation and advancement in genomics. This immersive experience is perfect for those interested in the intersection of technology and healthcare, through roles in the NHS such as genetic technologist, bioinformatics, informatics and clinical scientist.
The North Thames Genomic Medicine Service invites young people to participate in a three-day virtual work experience delivered through a combination of virtual sessions from our Genomic Laboratory Hub.
During the session you will:
· Discover a deeper understanding of how technology powers genomic medicine.
· Explore the role of advanced machinery and automation.
· Learn from professionals working at the forefront of genomics who use technology in their roles daily.
· Engage in virtual hands-on-exercises to understand DNA extraction and explore data analysis techniques.
· Explore careers pathways in genomics, from genomic technologist to clinical scientist.
· Hear about what it means for the North Thames Genomic Medicine Service to be the genetic testing provider for 7 million Londoners.
