Discover! 'Behind the Scenes' of Live Shows
In-person work experience
Have you ever wondered how your favourite events are brought to life? What actually goes on 'behind the scenes'? Spend a week with us at Fane to find out!
At Fane, we produce live and online spoken word events with the most exciting names in culture and entertainment, specifically authors and podcasters. For example, Stanley Tucci (think Devil Wears Prada, Hungar Games!) writes a book about his life and career, and we create a live event for him to discuss his book on stage, interviewed by another famous name. These events can be one-offs or be part of a wider tour around the UK, or even internationally as we also work in Australia, the US and Europe. Our work placement will give you the chance to explore all areas of our business and discover the A to Z of putting on a show: everything from sourcing the talent, production logistics, marketing, ticketing, customer service, social media etc. You'll even get to visit our very own warehouse where we pack and deliver the books for our events!
We are a team of 28 employees, and you'll have time to interact with everyone and get to know what everyone gets up to on a day-to-day which will help you work out which areas you are most interested in.
Working in the arts is very exciting, and we would love to share an insight into our work with you!

Experience You Will Gain:
- - Discover everything about putting on a live event, from finding the talent to getting the show on stage.
- - Learn the dos and don'ts of producing shows i.e how to secure the talent, how to do a budget, which venues to chose, how to design the event artwork, how to write compelling social copy etc.
- - Gain invaluable experience and insight into all areas of the business including ticketing, logistics, marketing, and social media.
- - Bonus experience: explore our warehouse and check out how we pack and deliver the books to our events!
