Want to learn what it’s like to work on one of the biggest international scientific endeavours of the 21st century?

We are a global astronomy observatory with our headquarters at Jodrell Bank in Cheshire, UK, and we’re building the two largest radio telescope arrays on Earth, at sites in Australia and South Africa. Our mission brings together a diverse team of scientists, engineers, software specialists, project managers and many others, and you’ll meet some of them during this work experience. We’ll encourage you to develop your teamwork and creativity skills during activity sessions, give you plenty of opportunities to ask our team questions, and help you to gain a better understanding of the range of careers available.

We don’t expect you to have any prior experience other than an enthusiasm for science. Our goal is to make this work experience as accessible and inclusive as possible; if you have specific accessibility needs, please let us know so that we can ensure we meet them.

Whether you dream of being a radio astronomer, a systems engineer, a data scientist, a project manager, an international law expert, a science communicator, or something else, there’s a whole Universe of possibilities within astronomy. Come and learn about it with us!
