Andrew Rostron
Head of Public Health Commissioning and Operations Antenatal and Newborn Screening, NHS England
I commenced nursing back in back in 1984 and quickly realised working with children offered greater job satisfaction and more challenges. After specialising as a children’s nurse I worked in many different areas as a nurse and later as a nurse manager. working as a nurse manager enabled me to develop and improve services for children and help shape future services. Over the last 12 years I have focussed on antenatal (pregnancy) and newborn screening and now lead 6 national screening programmes. My current role is a national role where I lead these screening programmes to ensure they can be delivered across the country and also the addition of new tests/screening.
