Nikhil Khashu

Nikhil has 25 years’ experience in the NHS and was appointed NHS England’s North West Regional Director of Finance in 2022, prior to this he had been Director of Finance and Information at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (StHK).

Nikhil joined the NHS as a National Financial Management Graduate Trainee in 1997 based in the North West region. Over his career he has worked across all three North West Regions (Cheshire and Merseyside, Greater Manchester and South Cumbria and Lancashire). Nikhil has also worked in many provider sectors such as Mental Health and Learning Disability, specialist acute, large district general hospital and with regional office (Strategic Health Authority). One of his greatest achievements was when in 2019, when as DoF of StHK they achieved the ‘quadruple’! Awarded the HSJ acute trust of the year, rated Outstanding by the CQC, top in the country for the national staff survey and top in the country for PLACE rating all done whilst delivery a surplus financial position.

Nikhil is passionate about making a positive impact on the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion agenda and health inequalities for the population he serves. He cares also about seeing the continuous personal development of the finance community in the NHS.
