Minister of State and Labour Peer, Home Office

Sir David Hanson was appointed Minister of State at the Home Office on 9 July 2024.
David was Labour MP for Delyn from 1992-2019. He served in government as minister for police and counter terrorism, prisons, in Northern Ireland, as Wales Minister and in the Whips office. David was also Parliamentary Secretary to Tony Blair 2001-05.

Post government he served on the justice select committee and on the prime minister appointed intelligence and security committee overseeing the security services.

A graduate of Hull University, David worked in retail and the voluntary sector prior to parliament And In addition was a local labour councillor leading his council.He enjoys football ,Liverpool fc and cinema and lives with his family in north wales
