Why should your trust or foundation work with us?
Speakers for Schools is grateful for the generosity of our Trust & Foundation partners who share our passion for educational and social equality and whose grants and awards help fund high-quality interventions for young people from the most disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK.
As a national charity with more than 13 years of experience in the youth social mobility sector, we work closely with partner organisations to leverage our reach and expertise. This ensures our funder relationships drive change for disadvantaged young people, using insight, networks, and data to direct funds to impact-led projects that target high-need young people and transform lives.

Driving change with the Drax Foundation
Speakers for Schools were delighted to secure funding from the newly formed Drax Foundation, which is the corporate foundation of the renewable energy company Drax Group.
The grant from Drax will fund a nine-month-long project in the Northampton and Ipswich regions that will help young people living close to two of Drax’s UK energy supply businesses – Opus Energy and Drax Energy Solutions – to develop green skills while learning more about career opportunities in the STEM sector.
Designed to be delivered in three main stages starting from October 2023, this Speakers for Schools project– titled Workspaces of the future – invites students aged 14-19 from 56 local secondary schools and colleges in the Ipswich and Northampton areas to participate in a phased Green Innovation challenge where they will ultimately pitch their ideas and designs for a high spec ‘green’ office space to a judging panel of local STEM employers.
Speaking about the project,
CEO of Speakers for Schools Nick Brook said:
“This unique initiative offers the perfect way for young people from the Ipswich and Northampton areas to find out for themselves what green skills are and why they are so important when it comes to future employment. We are incredibly grateful to the Drax Foundation for funding what promises to be an eye-opening and life-changing experience for all who take part.”
